How to Log Reading Minutes

Click on the Beanstack icon. HIDOE students choose from the list of schools; others Create an Account.

HIDOE students log in with username = HIDOE 10 digit student ID number and password = 6 digit date of birth (mmddyy)

This is where readers log minutes and complete activities. Logging 900 or more minutes qualifies a reader to receive a certificate and be entered into prize drawings.

A Note on Usernames

Students currently enrolled in Hawaiʻi Department of Education (HIDOE) public schools have a 10-digit student ID number issued by HIDOE. This number is known to most students in grades 2 and up and can be found on the studentʻs progress report or by phoning the school. This 10-digit student ID number functions as the username for students who wish to borrow books from the shared eBook collection through Sora and as the username for students who log reading minutes or engage in literacy activities in #808Reads or in the Beanstack app.

Anyone not currently enrolled as a student in a HIDOE public school can still join the Beanstack challenge through the Administration and Community site by creating their own username and password.

Students who read and log 900 minutes or more will receive a certificate and be eligible to win additional prizes.

Anyone not currently enrolled as a student in a HIDOE public school can also gain access to the reading materials at Sora by emailing 808libraries@k12.hi.us with the childʻs name and grade level. We will reply with a username that will work through July 31, 2024 to access thousands of eBooks, comics, audiobooks, and Read-Alongs.
